Day 1

ARRIVAL IN MOROCCO

  • Welcome, assistance and transfer to hotel.

Day 2

RABAT

  • The morning is devoted to a city orientation tour of Rabat and its monuments, ending with the visit of the carpet’s auction at Rue des Consuls.
  • CHELLAH : 2 km from the city center, between the palace and the Oued Bouregreg. The Chellah necropolis is open daily between 8:30 and 17:30. The necropolis was built in 1339 on the ancient Roman city of Sala Colonia. It houses the tombs of the Marinides dynasty. Chellah (Sala Colonia) was occupied since prehistoric times. Sala was one of the most prosperous cities and richest province of the Mauritania Tingitane. During the Phoenician and Carthaginian times the site was probably a maritime stopover between Lixus and Mogador. It is only from the Mauritanian period (1st &2nd century BC.) Sala became an important urban area provided with multiple public and religious monuments. From 40 AD the city became Roman and new facilities were built there (spa capitol triumphal arch, forum, basilica ...). The city remained under Roman rules until the early fifth century AD. At the end of the thirteenth century, the site was chosen by the Merinide’s sultans to shelter a dynastic necropolis. Several mausoleums richly decorated, including the Sultan’s Abu Al Hassan, are still there.
  • LES OUDAYAS : Small fortress built by the Almoravides to fight against Berghouata tribes. Its story begins with the Almohades as ribat at the embouchure of Bouregreg called Mehdiya. The site fell into disuse after the Almohades.
  • ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM OF OUDAYAS : It was built in the old pavilions erected during the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail (1672-1727).
  • to serve as a place to his stays in Rabat. Its architecture, decor, garden, the building are in themselves a unique masterpiece. The museum was installed there since 1915. It includes clothing collections representing several regions. The jewelery collection, rich and varied, reflects an undeniable expertise of Moroccan craftsmen. Astrolabes demonstrate the genius of the North African school and its contribution to the development of science. Carpets, pottery and musical instruments complete the picture of what the museum Oudayas conceals as ethnographic collections.
  • Lunch, The afternoon tour of the medina of Rabat and shoping in the Rue des Consuls.

Day 3

RABAT - MEKNES - FEZ

  • After breakfast depart for Fez via Meknes and Volubilis, City tour of Meknes.
  • BAB MANSOUR : Created by "El Mansour Aleuj" a converted christian whose name bears it, the construction of this gate began under the reign of Moulay Ismail and was completed by his son, Sultan Moulay Abdellah in 1732, to be the most beautiful door Morocco.
  • PLACE EL HADIM : Large square dominated by Bab Mansour, allowing access to the old Medina of the heritage city. Currently the site has been redeveloped and surrounded by modern buildings, it oers a rich color market where the famous olives are sold.
  • THE GREAT MOSQUE : Built in the twelfth century by the Almoravides, it is the largest religious building in the medina, its restoration dates from the same period of the madrasa (school) Bouanania in the same city.
  • MAUSOLEUM MOULAY ISMAIL : Restored by Sultan Mohamed Vth, the mausoleum consists of a large richly decorated with carved plaster room, it houses the tomb of the ruler and is decorated with clocks dating from the french king Louis XIV.
  • LE BASSIN AGDAL : Designed by Sultan Moulay Ismail to water the gardens of the Palace and get in water baths of his harem, this huge pond covers an area of 4 hectares and has currently become a promenade for residents.
  • BAB EL KHMIS : Considered one of the most beautiful gates of Meknes, with its Andalusian’s green tiles and sculptures in arabesques. Sultan Moulay Ismail engraved there "I am the door opened to all people from the West or the East."
  • THE JAMAI MUSEUM : A former palace with many rooms, which displays ancient pottery, Korans and caftans. The museum displays a unique style of the Alawite period, with a rich inner garden, exotic plants and birds singing.
  • THE HARAS : Large property spread over an area of about 80ha. Specializes in the breeding of stallions including 500 Arab thoroughbreds and the rest of Berber race. From the main entrance thefirst stables is after 200 meters.
  • DAR EL MA : Directed by Sultan Moulay Ismail, the curved booths of gigantic dimensions were designed to ensure an unvarying temperature to keep food stored.
  • Lunch, Continuation to Volubilis and Moulay Idriss.
  • VISIT OF VOLUBILIS : The site of Volubilis is one of the best preserved roman sites and most visited. It summarizes most of Morocco's history since the Mauritanian era (IIIrd c. BC.) To the Upper Middle Ages. Thefirst core of the city dates from the IIIrd century BC After the annexation of the Kingdom of Mauretania to the Roman Empire in 42 AD. Following the assassination of King Ptolemy by the emperor Caligula, Volubilis is elevated to municipality and is experiencing significant urban expansion from the second half of thefirst century AD. J.C. The Emperor Marcus Aurelius (168-169 AD. J.C.) built a town wall which encloses an area of forty hectares. Under severe (end IInd early III c.), the monumental district (capitol, basilica and forum) is refurbished and the triumphal arch erected in honor of the emperor for having granted Roman citizenship to the free inhabitants of the city and handing back taxes at all volubilitains.

Day 4

FEZ

  • After breakfast in the morning, visit the Medina of Fez and its monuments.
  • BAB SEMMARINE : Renovated in 1924, this multiple bends to door is the main entrance to the neighborhood Fez El-Jedid. Right under the arch, there is a food market located in former mérinides silos.
  • BORJ SUD : To overawe the inhabitants of the city of Fez Borj South was built by Christian slaves time of Saadian Sultan Ahmed El Mansour Eddahbi.
  • BORJ NORD : This fortification contemporary Portuguese style houses the Museum of Arms, with its eleven rooms representing all nationalities and chronologically outlining weapons of cut stone cannon.
  • PALAIS JAMAI : Built in 1879 with a patio, decorated facades of swiftly forming a tasty mix of mosaics zellige, stucco and marble. In 1930, the palace was turned into a luxury hotel.
  • DAR EL MAKHZEN : Admirable Royal Palace dazzling eyes by its Moorish gate, the green tiles symbols of Islam and the blue of these mosaics recalling the colors of Fez. The palace overlooks vast place of 80ha called up Alawite.
  • IN-PLACE NAJJARINE : This is the souk of cabinetmakers located in an alley that the place is named, it is known by the splendor of its fountain, and Fondouk Nejjarine built in the seventeenth century recently transformed into a mosque.
  • MEDERSA AL ATTARINE : Built between 1323 and 1325 during the reign of Abu Said, the Madrasa is a true masterpiece of the art Mérinide. It is located opposite the souk of the same name and the Grand Mosque. The terrace oers stunning views of the Marinid necropolis and city.
  • TOMBS MERINIDES : Fourteenth century dilapidated and mostly Merinides Tombs up afirst romantically and oer a beautiful view of Fez.
  • BAB FTOUH : Built on the site of an old door, Bab Ftouh was rebuilt in the reign of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah in the middle of the eighteenth century. Outside the wall above, is the cemetery Bab Ftouh.
  • MADRASA BOUANANIA : Koranic beautifully decorated glazed earthenware,finely carved plaster and wood, it was built by the Sultans Merinids Abou El Hassan and Abu Inane.
  • Continuation of the visit after lunch in an old house in Fez.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5

FEZ – TETOUAN - TANGIER

  • After breakfast depart for Tetouan.
  • Lunch in Tetouan and visit the city declared Cultural Heritage.
  • Continuation to Tangier.
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6

TANGER

  • After breakfast visit to the city; Exterior, Medina and Kasbah.
  • Lunch and free afternoon and departure for Rabat.
  • Arrival in Rabat Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 7

RABAT AND BACK

  • After breakfast transfer to airport for departure.
  • Assistance during recording.
  • End of services.
